The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah announced that they had carried out 12 separate attacks against Israeli forces over the past 24 hours, including direct strikes on Iron Dome air defense launchers and anti-drone jamming systems, saying that the operations, which spanned southern Lebanon and northern Israel, were retaliation for ongoing Israeli ceasefire violations and attacks on southern Lebanese villages.
According to a report made by Anadolu English on Sunday, 24 May, 2026, the Lebanese Shia Islamist political party and paramilitary group which is popularly known as Hezbollah, claimed that they struck an Israeli military engineering vehicle with drones in the southern Lebanese city of Bint Jbeil, noting that they targeted a technical surveillance device and a command vehicle at the Jal Al-Allam military site in northern Israel, reporting direct hits on both targets.
They also asserted that they confronted an Israeli Heron 1 drone above Lebanon’s Bekaa region using a surface-to-air missile, forcing the unmanned aircraft to retreat from the area.
Hezbollah also claimed to have struck four Iron Dome launchers at the Branit and Ramim barracks, as well as three Drone Dome anti-drone jamming systems located at Nimr Al-Jamal, Al-Jardah, and Naqoura, reporting using artillery and drones to target gatherings of Israeli soldiers in the towns of Deir Siryan and Bayyada.
It was gathered that the latest escalation came as the use of advanced drones, especially fiber-optic-guided models, had become a growing source of concern for Israeli defense planners.
Unlike conventional drones, fiber-optic models are resistant to electronic jamming and difficult to detect, making them a formidable tool for precision strikes.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had described these drones as a major threat, and had called on the leadership of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to urgently develop effective countermeasures over the use of advanced drones, especially fiber-optic-guided models that had become a growing source of concern for Israeli defense planners.
