Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered remarks in Jerusalem during a state ceremony marking 59 years since the liberation and reunification of the city, held at Ammunition Hill.
In his address, he reiterated his claim that all hostages had been returned, without directly addressing reports indicating that some of the captives taken during the conflict in Gaza had died while in captivity or as a result of the ongoing hostilities.
According to Times of Israel, Netanyahu used the occasion to highlight what he described as major national security achievements, particularly in relation to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
He stated that if Israel had not carried out what he referred to as the “Operation Lions,” Iran would by now have succeeded in obtaining a nuclear weapon.

He further emphasized that Israel’s military and strategic efforts have fundamentally altered the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.
According to him, the country’s actions over recent years have reshaped regional dynamics and strengthened Israel’s position in confronting hostile forces.
During the speech, Netanyahu again stressed that the return of hostages represented a critical achievement of his government, presenting it as evidence of Israel’s commitment to its citizens.
However, he did not provide additional detail regarding the status of those still missing or the circumstances surrounding those confirmed dead.
The Prime Minister also repeated his assertion that Israel’s policies and military operations have “changed the Middle East,” suggesting a long-term transformation in regional power structures.
