According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Iranian Army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami Nia has stated that the country’s armed forces remain on high alert, declaring that national resilience and military preparedness prevented adversaries from achieving their objectives, according to remarks made during a memorial ceremony marking the 40th day since the martyrdom of Abdolrahim Mousavi.
He noted that despite the announcement of a ceasefire, Iran’s forces have not reduced their operational readiness.
“We have maintained our readiness,” Akrami Nia said, emphasizing continued vigilance across all military branches.
The spokesperson highlighted Iran’s strategic position in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the waterway as a critical zone under dual military oversight.
“The western section of this waterway is under the control of the IRGC Navy, and its eastern section is controlled by the Iranian Army Navy,” he stated.
Akrami Nia further asserted that control of the strait carries significant economic and geopolitical value, claiming it could generate returns far exceeding current national oil revenues while strengthening Iran’s foreign policy leverage.
He also made strong claims regarding regional military developments, stating that U.S. weapons stationed at regional bases had been destroyed and warning against any future passage of such weapons through the Strait of Hormuz.
“These are just some of our capabilities that the enemy never even imagined,” he said, highlighting what he described as undisclosed operational strengths.
Linking current military doctrine to the legacy of Abdolrahim Mousavi, Akrami Nia said the late commander played a key role in shifting Iran’s defense strategy from a purely defensive posture to a more proactive stance.
He referenced recent conflict dynamics involving the United States and Israel, claiming that Iran’s response strategy involved striking multiple enemy assets in retaliation for attacks on Iranian territory.
“In response to an attack on one point in our country, we targeted several of the enemy’s interests,” he said, adding that this approach would continue in any future confrontations……See More
