According to a report by Anadolu Agency on Sunday, May 10, 2026, Donald Trump has reportedly assured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States would not compromise on Iran’s uranium programme as tensions continue to rise over Tehran’s nuclear ambitions and the future of US-Iran negotiations.
According to a report by Israel’s Channel 13 television, Trump conveyed the message to Netanyahu amid growing concerns within Israel over the direction of diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran.
The report, which cited an unnamed Israeli official, stated that Israeli authorities remain in a state of “constant anticipation” while waiting for Trump’s next decision regarding Iran and the ongoing regional crisis.
The development comes as Israeli political, intelligence and military officials reportedly intensify discussions over possible next steps should diplomacy fail to produce an agreement acceptable to Tel Aviv.
According to the report, senior Israeli military and intelligence officials recently presented Netanyahu with increasingly hardline positions regarding Iran during high-level consultations.
Israeli military leaders reportedly believe the current condition of Iran’s military infrastructure presents what they described as an “operational opportunity” to renew attacks against Tehran and “finish the mission.”
The report also claimed that Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, believes a renewed conflict could accelerate instability within Iran and potentially weaken the Iranian government further.
Despite these discussions, the unnamed Israeli official reportedly stressed that Israeli leaders were trying to avoid appearing overly anxious or giving the impression that they were pressuring Washington into launching another military escalation.
The report emerged just days after Trump publicly expressed optimism about the ongoing diplomatic engagements with Iran.
Speaking earlier this week, the US president said discussions with Tehran had been “very good” and suggested that the conflict could end quickly if negotiations progressed successfully.
Trump also stated that Washington was expecting Iran’s formal response “very soon” to a US-backed proposal designed to bring the war to an end.
Regional tensions have remained high since the United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes against Iran earlier this year, triggering retaliatory attacks by Tehran against Israeli targets and American allies across the Gulf region.
The conflict also led to major disruptions in maritime activities around the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.
Iran temporarily restricted access through the strategic waterway, raising concerns about global energy supplies and international shipping security.
A ceasefire agreement later came into effect on April 8 following mediation efforts led by Pakistan. However, negotiations held afterward in Islamabad reportedly failed to secure a lasting political settlement.

Trump subsequently announced an extension of the truce without providing a specific timeline, saying diplomatic channels should continue to be explored.
Despite the ceasefire arrangement, the United States has continued enforcing a naval blockade targeting Iranian maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz since April 13.
