According to a report by The Times Of Israel on May 8, 2026, US President Donald Trump said three US Navy destroyers successfully moved through the Strait of Hormuz while coming under attack. He stated that the vessels were not damaged during the incident, although Iranian forces allegedly suffered significant losses in the exchange.
Trump described the confrontation in comments to reporters and on his Truth Social platform, where he accused Iranian seacraft of opening fire on American naval ships operating in the strategic waterway.
“Three World Class American Destroyers just transited, very successfully, out of the Strait of Hormuz, under fire. There was no damage done to the three Destroyers, but great damage done to the Iranian attackers,” Trump writes on Truth Social.
