In a recent statement via his official X account, Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has shared his views on national unity and leadership ahead of 2027 elections.
”It’s high time Nigeria had a pure blood Igbo President. Until then, all these wounds of the past will persist to remain,” he wrote.
In his post, Bashir El-Rufai argued that the country needs to produce a president of Igbo origin to address long-standing divisions and suggested that many unresolved issues in Nigeria’s history are still affecting national cohesion, according to him, giving the Igbo people a chance at the presidency could help ease lingering tensions.
He expressed concern that past grievances have not been fully healed and noted that these issues continue to shape political discussions and public sentiment across the country, in his view, inclusive leadership remains an important step toward building trust among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups.
