According to a report by News Central TV, on Wednesday April 29, 2026, amidst rising tensions and a brewing diplomatic uproar following the latest incidents of xenophobic violence in South Africa, Adeniyi Kunnu, a prominent global policy analyst, has issued a searing critique of the ongoing attacks against foreign nationals, particularly Nigerians.
The recent deaths of two Nigerians, Amaramiro Emmanuel and Ebayong Andrew, in separate incidents in Johannesburg have prompted the Nigerian federal government to formally demand an investigation and call for the protection of its citizens.
However, Kunnu dismissed current diplomatic efforts as lame and ineffective, arguing that there is a complete lack of accountability for perpetrators.
Kunnu emphasized that the issue is rooted in the absence of firm legislative repercussions within South Africa to protect those who legally reside and contribute to the country’s economy.
Drawing on his own status as a legal resident in the United States, he highlighted the contrast in legal protections:
“I as speak with you right now, I shuttle between Nigeria and the United States of America. But I’m a legal person here in this country and of course when it’s time for me to pay taxes because of what I do here, definitely I pay taxes to the government of the United States of America. I cannot be attacked without punitive measures that are appropriate because I legally reside in the United States of America.”……See More
