In a recent interview on Viable TV, Nyesom Wike spoke during a live political discussion where he addressed criticisms from opposition figures and weighed in on past leadership dynamics in Nigeria.
During the interview, Wike stated, “Olusegun Obasanjo said, ‘Atiku Abubakar, as my vice president, is a complete failure.’” He used the remark to question the credibility of ongoing criticisms directed at the current administration.
He referenced former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, noting that internal assessments from past administrations should be considered when evaluating present political arguments.
Wike explained that such statements, whether controversial or not, form part of Nigeria’s political history and continue to influence how key actors are perceived in today’s political landscape.
He argued that it is inconsistent for individuals who have faced strong criticism within their own political circles to position themselves as authoritative voices against current leadership.
The minister further stated that political debates should be grounded in verifiable records and performance rather than selective narratives aimed at swaying public opinion.
He added that Nigerians are increasingly aware of past events and are capable of making informed judgments when confronted with competing political claims.
Wike emphasized that his focus remains on governance and delivering results, particularly within the Federal Capital Territory, rather than engaging in prolonged political exchanges.
He concluded by stating that as political activities gradually intensify ahead of future elections, past records and statements will continue to shape public discourse and influence voter perception…..See More
