Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has stated that he is willing to step aside for any candidate who emerges through a credible process during the presidential primary of the African Democratic Congress, including Peter Obi.
Atiku made the clarification during an exclusive interview on Arise News on Wednesday, where he addressed questions about possible alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Responding to whether he would step down for Obi, the former presidential candidate emphasised his commitment to democratic principles and internal party processes.
“I will step aside for any winner, including Peter Obi,” he said.
He explained that his decision would depend on the outcome of either a consensus arrangement or a transparent electoral process within the party.
“Politics is going through democracy or consensus; if he emerges through consensus or an electoral process, I will step aside,” Atiku added.
