Babachir Lawal has shared details about his close relationship with former President Muhammadu Buhari, even after leaving his role as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
In a video shared by Channels Television, he explained that although he officially lost his access pass to the Presidential Villa after his removal, Buhari still welcomed him. Security officials would give him temporary clearance at the gate, something the former president reportedly disliked. Because of this, Buhari ordered that Lawal’s official tag be returned so he could move freely again.
Lawal said he knew many people inside the Villa and could easily arrange a visit through Buhari’s family members, including his children and wife. According to him, no one could completely block his access at the time.
He also described how his visits often affected the atmosphere around the president. After their discussions, Buhari’s mood would change, which made others curious about his presence and influence.
Lawal further revealed that some individuals were uncomfortable with his closeness to Buhari. He claimed that a governor once spent a large amount of money in an attempt to stop him from gaining access to the president, but the effort failed because of the strong bond they shared.
To maintain communication, Lawal said they developed a routine of speaking early in the morning, especially during prayer times, allowing them to stay in touch without others knowing.
In his words, “If I wanted to see Buhari, I could go in through his daughters, sons, or his wife. I just say I want to come and see Oga.”…..See More
