Barrister Alatoye Abdulazeez, Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, has warned that Nigeria’s problems are so deep that even an ideal leader would struggle to govern the country effectively.
In an interview with DAILY INDEPENDENT on Tuesday, April 21 2026, Alatoye acknowledged some positive steps by President Bola Tinubu but urged Nigerians to be patient and to support leaders through prayer and constructive advice rather than hostility.
Alatoye said reforms take time and stressed the Jama’at’s approach of praying for and guiding leaders instead of condemning them or promoting unrest. He argued that, given the current state of the nation, even a perfect leader would face immense difficulty in turning things around quickly.
He urged citizens to recognise progress, offer constructive support, and be patient as long-term reforms are implemented.
His words,
“Even if we bring an angel down to Nigeria right now, that angel will still struggle to administer the country given the present situation.”…..See More
