Data: MTN Is On Top Of It, We Are Going To Occupy All Your Offices In Next 2Weeks -Omoyele Sowore

Former presidential aspirant Omoyele Sowore has criticized major telecommunications operators in Nigeria over what he described as unfair data usage practices and poor service delivery. Sowore made the remarks during a press briefing aired by Symfoni TV on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

He accused telecom companies of exploiting subscribers while generating substantial revenue without delivering adequate value. “What kind of nonsense is that? And these guys take billions out of Nigeria on a monthly basis from subscribers,” he said.

He stated that a significant number of Nigerians rely on telecom services but are not receiving satisfactory quality. “There are over 100 million Nigerians who subscribe to these thieves. And we don’t get anything in return for it,” Sowore added.

Sowore also criticized the marketing of mobile data services, arguing that advertised benefits often do not reflect actual user experience. “And now, data is life. That’s even how they advertise their data. But they are after your life,” he said.

He further indicated that his focus included addressing issues involving major operators such as MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, and Globacom, alongside others in the sector. “I’m more interested in fighting MTN, Airtel, Glo, and all these data thieves. Yes, that are stealing our data,” he stated.

Sowore noted that there had been recent improvements in service quality but cautioned that such changes would not deter further action. “Did you guys realize that suddenly there’s some improvement in the last few days? But don’t think you can fool us,” he said.

He disclosed that planned actions could include protests at company offices. “We are still coming after you. MTN is on top of it. We are going to occupy all your offices in the next two weeks,” he stated.

Sowore emphasized that telecommunications services in Nigeria should align with global standards, particularly in data plans and billing structures. “You must restore the services we pay for now. And let whatever other subscribers across the world are enjoying must be extended to Nigerians,” he said.

He questioned discrepancies in data plans marketed as unlimited or monthly subscriptions. “If you buy data and it says unlimited, it should be unlimited. If you say it’s monthly, it should last a month. How can you buy data and you say it’s monthly 250GB and it finishes in three days? And when did three days become a month?” he asked…..See More
