In a report published by NIGERIAN TRIBUNE on Saturday June 6 2026, Emmanuel, a suspected cult member, who has been arrested by police in Lagos State has given an account of how he became involved in the group during interrogation.
According to reports, Emmanuel, who is believed to occupy a leadership role within the cult, was arrested in a police operation targeting violent clashes between rival cult groups in Ishashi, Shibiri, Ajangbadi, and Ilogbo areas of the Ojo axis of Lagos State.
He stated that he was introduced to the Aiye Confraternity by a friend known as “Hurry,” who is now deceased. He explained that they met about three years ago on Lagos Island and later developed a friendship. He noted that he was not involved in cult activities at the time.
Emmanuel further disclosed that he was later persuaded by his friend to join the group. He also admitted involvement in internet fraud, though he minimized its extent.
The arrest forms part of ongoing security operations aimed at addressing cult-related violence and criminal activities across parts of Lagos State.
According to Emmanuel,
“I was introduced to the Aiye Confraternity by one of my friends, Hurry, who is now late. He told me I should join the Aiye cult group because I was handsome.”
