According to a report by the Cable on Monday, June 1, 2026, Babachir Lawal has alleged that the presidential primary election within the ADC was deeply flawed, claiming that the entire process lacked credibility and fairness.
According to him, the exercise was not conducted in a transparent or democratic manner, but was instead deliberately altered to produce a predetermined outcome.
He insisted that the irregularities were not subtle or hidden, but widely known among party members and participants.
In his view, the manipulation was extensive, affecting both the conduct of the election and the final outcome.
Lawal maintained that those who took part in the primary were fully aware that the process had been compromised from the outset.
Emphasising the scale of the alleged misconduct, he said, “Everybody in ADC knows that the presidential primary election was manipulated, was massively rigged, and the result was doctored. Everybody who participated knew it.”
