Media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lere Olayinka, has criticized Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, over his recent remarks at the opposition leaders’ summit in Ibadan.
Makinde had reportedly stated during the summit that he could achieve for the South-West as Vice President what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not been able to accomplish.
Reacting via his X handle on Sunday, Olayinka dismissed the governor’s claim, questioning his record and accusing him of failing in key responsibilities.
“Yes nah, like pocketing N30bn meant for January 2024 Ibadan explosion victims and doing like nothing happened,” Olayinka wrote.
The comment references ongoing political disputes surrounding the handling of funds related to the Bodija explosion incident in Ibadan, though the Oyo State Government has not formally responded to the latest allegation.
The exchange comes in the wake of the National Opposition Summit held in Ibadan, where opposition leaders gathered to discuss strategies and political collaboration ahead of future elections.
Olayinka’s reaction has further heightened political tensions, with supporters of both figures engaging in debates over governance, accountability, and leadership performance.
Observers note that such exchanges reflect intensifying political rhetoric as key actors begin positioning for the 2027 general elections, particularly in the South-West region.
As of the time of filing this report, Governor Makinde has not issued a direct response to Olayinka’s latest remarks……See More
