Presidential Adviser on Media and Communication, Sunday Dare, has criticized opposition parties for what he described as a lack of clear policy direction and alternative agenda for Nigerians.
Dare made the remarks on Sunday during an appearance on Arise News ThisDay Live, where he assessed the current political landscape and the performance of opposition groups.
According to him, opposition parties have largely focused on criticism of government policies without presenting viable solutions or programmes that could serve as alternatives to the ruling party.
“What we’ve seen from the opposition in the last few months is complaint, no concrete agenda,” he said.
He further argued that the opposition has been fragmented, spending more time attacking the government rather than building cohesion or articulating policies that resonate with Nigerians.
Dare expressed confidence that the opposition does not currently pose a significant threat to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or the APC, even if elections were to be conducted immediately.
He also defended the administration’s economic policies, stating that Nigeria is on a path of recovery under Tinubu’s leadership.
“The country’s economy is on the path of economic rescue under President Bola Tinubu,” he said, adding that the reforms are aimed at steering Nigeria away from past challenges.
The APC chieftain further warned against what he described as attempts by certain political actors to “hijack” governance and return the country to what he termed an old and ineffective trajectory.
His comments have since sparked reactions among political observers, with some agreeing that opposition parties need to articulate clearer policy alternatives, while others argue that criticism remains a vital component of democratic accountability.
The remarks come amid heightened political activities and realignments, as stakeholders across party lines begin positioning ahead of future elections…….See More
