I Was A Born-Again Christian Who Drank Alcohol Because Jesus Turned Water Into Wine -Osinbajo

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has shared a personal story about his early Christian life, revealing that there was a time he continued drinking alcohol even after becoming a born-again Christian.

Speaking in a video which was shared on his official YouTube channel, Osinbajo said, “I was a born-again Christian who still drank alcohol, I thought since Jesus turned water into wine, it was okay to drink.”

According to him, he believed at the time that moderate drinking was not wrong because of the biblical account where Jesus turned water into wine. He explained that this mindset shaped his personal choices for a period, even after he had become serious about his faith.

Osinbajo noted that while he was committed to Christianity and active in fellowship activities, he still felt there was no contradiction between serving God and occasionally drinking alcohol.

He noted, however, that spiritual growth often involves deeper understanding and personal conviction. As he matured in faith, he began to reflect more seriously on the example believers set through their lifestyle and choices.

He explained that he later came to realize that not everything a person feels free to do is always beneficial. He said faith is not only about what is allowed, but also about wisdom, discipline, and the impact one’s actions may have on others.

Osinbajo’s remarks have drawn attention because of the honesty with which he described his past thinking and how his perspective later changed.

Many reactions have trailed the statement, with some praising his openness and others discussing the long-standing debate among Christians about alcohol consumption……See More
