My Uncle’s Wife Entered The Room With A Bucket Of Acid, Poured Us, Locked The Door And Fled -Francess

Obanye Francess was only nine years old when her life changed forever after a brutal acid attack in her family home in Anambra State. She grew up in a large household where tensions between her father and his relatives often led to serious conflicts.

According to a report by Punch on Saturday, April 18, 2026, on November 17, 2004, those conflicts turned violent. Early that morning, while Francess was sleeping in her grandmother’s room, her uncle’s wife entered with a bucket of acid. She had reportedly intended to attack Francess’s brother, the only son, but mistook Francess for him. She poured the acid on both Francess and her grandmother, then locked the door and ran away.

Francess suffered severe injuries, especially to her face, and spent over a year in the hospital. Returning to school was difficult, as other children were afraid of her. Despite this, her parents encouraged her to continue her education, and she later studied Biochemistry.

Life after the attack has not been easy. Francess lost both her parents in recent years, which deeply affected her. She also faced discrimination and struggled to find employment. To survive, she started an online business selling bags and clothes.

Emotionally, accepting her condition has been one of her biggest challenges. Still, she remains strong and refuses to let her scars define her.

In her words, “While my mother stepped out, my uncle’s wife, who had been part of the family conflict, came with a bucket of acid. Her target was my brother, the only son. She entered the room where I was sleeping with my grandmother and poured acid on both of us. When I started screaming, my mother tried to rush in, but the woman locked the door after the attack and fled.”…..See More
