Any Party Peter Obi Joins Will Scatter. Whatever He’s Doing With ADC Is Dead On Arrival -Yul Edochie

According to a report by Punch on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Nollywood actor and politician Yul Edochie has expressed the view that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi cannot become President of Nigeria at this time amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Edochie made the assertion on his social media platform where he also dismissed Obi’s involvement in opposition coalition discussions linked to the African Democratic Congress, describing the efforts as ineffective and unlikely to succeed.

He said, “He wrote, “Any political party Peter Obi joins will scatter. Whatever he’s doing with ADC is dead on arrival. A total waste of time. It’s not a physical problem. It’s deeper than that.”

He further suggested that Obi’s political influence is often overstated and argued that his participation in coalition politics could weaken rather than strengthen such alliances as opposition parties prepare for the next general election cycle.

Edochie, who contested the 2017 Anambra State governorship election under the Democratic Peoples Congress, has in recent years become more vocal on national politics and frequently comments on governance and leadership matters.

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, remains a central figure in ongoing opposition consultations and has been linked with coalition talks involving several political stakeholders.

As the 2027 elections approach political analysts note increasing tension within opposition ranks although key figures continue to emphasize unity and strategic collaboration to challenge the ruling party.

Obi has continued to engage in consultations with other political actors while dismissing concerns about internal rivalry within the emerging coalition structure maintaining that discussions are aimed at addressing national challenges and improving governance outcomes.
