In a recent interview with Daily Independent on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, Barrister Alatoye Abdulazeez, the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, has shared his thoughts on the performance of the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He stated that the government has taken bold steps in some areas of governance over the past three years, according to him the country is facing deep challenges that make governance very difficult for any leader.
He noted that even an ideal leader would still struggle under Nigeria’s current economic and social conditions, he explained that his organisation encourages prayers for leaders instead of criticism or calls for unrest and added that supporting leaders through prayers and guidance is a core teaching of the Jama’at.
The cleric stated that the removal of fuel subsidy by the administration has created more funds for government use, however he stressed that the main concern now is how those funds are being managed.
He mentioned ongoing infrastructure projects such as the Lagos to Calabar coastal highway and described power supply as one of the most critical areas needing urgent attention for national development.
He urged the government to assign competent people to manage the power sector effectively, he maintained that while the President is trying more work is still required in several sectors.
He called on citizens to cooperate with the government in order to ensure progress and stability, he underlined the importance of unity and patience as reforms take time to show results.
”I must admit that President Tinubu has taken bold steps. Even if we bring an angel down to Nigeria right now, that angel will still struggle to administer the country given the present situation. We must first acknowledge what has been done right and then encourage improvement in areas that still need attention,” he said…..See More
