Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has taken a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his recent remarks, describing them as arrogant and inconsistent. The criticism followed Atiku’s comments in which he referred to former President Goodluck Jonathan as a “young man,” a statement that Fani-Kayode strongly rejected.
Reacting in a post shared on X, Fani-Kayode also addressed Atiku’s decision not to engage Vice President Kashim Shettima. Atiku had stated that he would not respond to Shettima, citing respect for age and experience, and emphasizing that it was against northern traditions to challenge elders in such a manner.
However, Fani-Kayode dismissed this reasoning, arguing that Atiku’s stance contradicts his own political history. He accused the former vice president of previously opposing ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo despite the same considerations of seniority and experience he now invokes.
He further suggested that Atiku’s refusal to respond to Shettima may not be rooted in respect, but rather in an inability to counter his arguments. Fani-Kayode also noted that Shettima has remained steadfast in his loyalty to President Bola Tinubu.
Turning to Atiku’s remarks about Goodluck Jonathan, Fani-Kayode expressed disbelief at the characterization of the former president as “young” and inexperienced. He pointed out that Jonathan, who is in his late sixties, not only served as vice president but also rose to become president, surpassing Atiku’s own highest political office.
Fani-Kayode argued that such a description diminishes Jonathan’s accomplishments and reflects poorly on Atiku’s judgment. He added that the former president’s tenure recorded notable achievements, including periods of economic growth.
Concluding his remarks, Fani-Kayode advised Atiku not to hide behind age and experience to deflect criticism, insisting that his past actions have weakened any moral ground to make such claims…..See More
