Why Whether Free, Fair, Unfair And Not Free, If We’re On Ballot Tinubu Will Lose The Election -Amaechi

Former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would lose the next election regardless of the conditions under which it is conducted, while raising concerns over alleged interference in Nigeria’s political and judicial institutions.

Amaechi, who served from 2015 to 2022, defected from the All Progressives Congress in July 2025 to join the African Democratic Congress. He is part of a coalition that includes Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, positioning itself ahead of the 2027 general elections.

During an interview on Channels Television on Friday, April 17, 2026, Amaechi responded to a question on whether President Tinubu could secure victory in a free, fair, and credible election, given his political structure across the country.

In his response, Amaechi said, “Whether free, fair or unfair and not free if we are on the ballot President Bola Tinubu will lose the election. Take it for free. Take it for granted.”

He further alleged that efforts were being made to weaken opposition participation through institutional means. According to him, “Look the problem is he does not want a strong candidate on the ballot. So what are they doing? What they are doing is that they are interfering with all the parties using the judiciary as an institution.”

Amaechi also raised concerns about court decisions affecting political parties, stating, “So whenever they go to court they get all sorts of funny judgments and all that. Let them allow the institutions to be to pursue justice. Let there be justice and let them allow all the political parties to have kindness on the ballot and see whether president Bola Tinubu will win.”

He questioned the administration’s performance in key areas, adding, “How can he win with such an economy? How can he win with such an insecurity? How can he win when the president can’t even campaign? When the president will stop at at Plateau airport? So how is he going to start a campaign in Plateau?”

Amaechi concluded by alleging a broader strategy involving state institutions, stating, “The point is the strategy they are applying is simple. Let us use government institutions to top the table. Simple.”…..See More
