According to a report by Fox News, on Tuesday May 19, 2026, as tensions escalate ahead of a highly anticipated White House Situation Room meeting on Iran, retired four-star General Jack Keane has dismissed Tehran’s threats of offensive military action against the United States as completely hollow, labeling their claims as nothing more than political posturing.
The comments come at a critical juncture as the current six-week ceasefire appears to be unraveling. While political leaders and hardliners close to the ayatollah try to leverage their position, defense experts are downplaying Iran’s literal capacity to stand against the U.S. military.
Addressing the regime’s asymmetric warfare capabilities specifically its arsenal of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) Gen. Keane forcefully minimized the strategic risk they pose to American forces.
“It is quite absurd,” Gen. Keane stated. “They may have several hundred drones, but that’s not a military capability that will seriously threaten the United States. If they took any offensive military action against the United States, it would result in the destruction of the regime. They certainly know that this is bluster on their part.”…….See More
