Former Kano State Governor and APC chieftain Abdullahi Ganduje has defended President Bola Tinubu against criticism over Nigeria’s security crisis, arguing that the problem predates his administration by decades.
Speaking on Channels TV, Ganduje said, “Tinubu inherited an insecurity problem in the country that started right from the days of Boko Haram at the tail end of the Obasanjo administration, running into the Jonathan administration and also down to the Buhari administration. It was a big problem that started from the Northeast and then spread to some parts of the country. And also the issue of farmers-herders conflicts started as a problem which graduated into what I can call kidnapping, which also graduated into banditry,” he said.
Ganduje acknowledged that the security situation had become dangerously conspicuous under the current administration but was quick to credit Tinubu’s government for taking decisive steps to contain it.
He pointed to the reshuffling of the security apparatus, covering the military, police, and DSS as well as stronger collaboration with state governments and a sharper focus on forest-based criminal hideouts as key factors that have made a difference……See More
