Isaac Fayose has reacted to the appointment of his elder brother, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, as chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), saying his brother had been successful in private business long before receiving the new role.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, Isaac dismissed claims that the appointment was a major political reward, noting that his brother was not made a minister or ambassador but was instead appointed to head a government agency.
He said Ayo Fayose had previously told him that after leaving office as governor, he did not plan to seek another political position such as minister, senator or director-general. According to Isaac, his brother chose to focus on his private businesses and had been financially successful for many years.
Isaac added that Ayo Fayose had been a billionaire since he was still a baby, arguing that the appointment was not necessary for his brother’s financial well-being.
He also questioned the timing of the appointment, linking it to a recent visit by Labour Party ally Peter Obi to his home. Isaac suggested that the government only decided to appoint his brother after that meeting, claiming it was an attempt to create influence within their family.
He described the appointment as a “Greek gift,” suggesting it could be intended to place Ayo Fayose in a position where he would be expected to counter the views and activities of other members of the family.
