During an interview on AIT on Friday, July 17, 2026, Emmanuel Aziken, a political analyst, called for greater accountability from public officials while commenting on the circumstances surrounding the death of Mary Habila, who was found dead in a guest house within the private residence of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, in Uburu, Ebonyi State.
Aziken argued that the timeline of the incident has raised public concerns, particularly regarding when information about Habila’s death became widely known. He said public officials should be prepared to provide explanations when incidents of significant public interest occur.
According to him, “He needs to explain, how come this lady died in his house, it was more than two weeks after that Nigerians got to know? So I think there should be a sort of accountability. Political actors should be made to account for their deeds.”
