Pregnant Women Come To Our Hospital To Deliver, Then We Sell The Babies To Foster Parents -Dr Obot

A medical doctor based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force over allegations of operating a child trafficking syndicate.

According to a report by Channels Television, the suspect, identified as Dr. Elizabeth Obot, was arrested by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department Special Tactical Squad (STS)

Dr. Obot, who is reportedly the Chief Medical Director of Alona Hospital in Port Harcourt, was accused of facilitating the transfer of babies to individuals in exchange for money.

While speaking during interrogation, she allegedly explained the process, saying: “Pregnant women will come and deliver, then we’ll give out the child to foster parents in exchange for money.”

The 66-year-old doctor reportedly claimed that the arrangement was aimed at helping “distressed families” who wanted children.

According to the report, she insisted that such cases were not frequent and allegedly occurred only once every few years.

During the police operation, authorities reportedly made a disturbing discovery at the hospital facility.

Investigators allegedly found the body of a deceased infant hidden inside the doctor’s office. Police further claimed that chemicals had been used to preserve the body and make it appear fresh.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the Nigeria Police Force has appealed to women who delivered babies at Alona Hospital within the last eight years to come forward and share relevant information.

The police said the testimonies could help investigators determine the full scope of the alleged activities linked to the hospital.
