Ameh: Go And Check His Media Handles To See If He Said Anything About Obi When He Left LP-Okonkwo

A fresh disagreement has emerged among political figures associated with Nigeria’s opposition movement, as African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo publicly criticized former National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Peter Ameh, over comments regarding the political rise and popularity of key actors within the opposition.

The latest exchange follows remarks attributed to Peter Ameh, who reportedly claimed that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi played a significant role in boosting Kenneth Okonkwo’s profile in Nigerian politics. The statement has since generated reactions among supporters and political observers, with Okonkwo strongly rejecting the narrative and questioning Ameh’s political loyalty.

Speaking in a video published on the official YouTube channel of SYMFONI TV on Saturday, June 6, 2026, Okonkwo responded to Ameh’s comments and accused him of abandoning Obi when the former presidential candidate moved from the Labour Party (LP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to Okonkwo, Ameh’s actions during the period of political realignment contradicted the image of support he now seeks to project. He argued that rather than following Obi to his new political platform, Ameh remained in the Labour Party because of personal political ambitions.

During the interview, Okonkwo described Ameh as someone who had betrayed Obi’s political cause. He maintained that Ameh chose to prioritize his own aspirations within the Labour Party instead of aligning himself with the movement that had previously brought many opposition figures together.

Addressing the issue directly, Okonkwo said:”When Peter Obi left for ADC, he (Peter Ameh) refused to follow him. He stayed back in order to lobby for the position of National Chairman of Labour Party.”

The ADC chieftain further challenged members of the public to review Ameh’s public statements and online activities during the period in question, insisting that there was little evidence of active support for Obi after the political transition occurred.

Continuing his criticism, Okonkwo stated:”Go and check all his social media handles to see if he said anything about Peter Obi during that time. He stayed back in the Labour Party trying to be the National Chairman.”
