According to a report by Daily Mail, Iran has issued a stark warning that it is ready to deploy “new cards on the battlefield” as tensions escalate with the United States ahead of a looming ceasefire deadline.
Iran’s Parliamentary Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said Tehran would not engage in negotiations while a US naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz remains in place.
He accused Donald Trump of violating the fragile two-week truce and attempting to force Iran into submission.
The warning comes as US Vice President JD Vance prepares to travel to Islamabad for urgent talks aimed at preventing a return to full-scale conflict. The American delegation is expected to push for a deal before the ceasefire expires.
Washington recently expanded its blockade to include cargo vessels suspected of transporting weapons, with the US Navy warning such ships could be stopped and searched. Tehran has described the move as a major obstacle to diplomacy.
Despite public uncertainty from Iranian officials, reports suggest a delegation may still attend the Pakistan talks, although divisions remain within the country’s leadership.
Hardliners are said to oppose concessions, while others demand clearer guarantees that the US will honour any agreement.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has also called for stronger signs of American commitment, citing past withdrawals from nuclear agreements.
Meanwhile, Trump has maintained a confident stance, insisting a new deal would be stronger than previous accords and warning of severe consequences if Iran refuses to comply.
With the ceasefire set to expire imminently, the Islamabad talks are widely seen as a critical moment that could determine whether diplomacy prevails or hostilities resume…..See More
