Former Secretary General of the Federation Babachir Lawal has alleged that President Bola Tinubu aligned politically with some Northern politicians whom he labeled as being pretentious on his quest to the presidency.
Speaking in an interview with Channels TV, Lawal said, “My own analysis of Bola Tinubu is in two stages: before he became president, he was a good man. The first quarrel I had with him was when he relocated to Abuja to pursue that presidential ambition. He ran into the wrong people because he is a Lagos city boy. He doesn’t know much about Nigeria.”
He alleged that the president’s move to Abuja exposed him to a circle of northern political figures he described as self-serving and morally compromised, who used religion as a cover for their true intentions.
