A young lady, Bella Boluwatife, has given a detailed account of how a journey she began on 17 February 2026, which she believed would lead to legitimate employment in Malaysia, instead turned into an ordeal of deception and coercion.
In a report by VANGUARD on Sunday April 19 2026 Bella said that she was recruited by an agent who handled travel arrangements and showed them polished images of a modern bar where they were told they would work. She said she travelled with two other women, Linda Zainab, a budding fashion designer, and Amoke Joy.
According to Bella, the agent, identified as Peter Osas, arranged a video call with a woman who presented herself as the trip’s sponsor. She said they were coached beforehand to answer every question with “yes,” a tactic she now recognises as part of the deception.
Bella said the group was moved from Ogun State to the Seme border, then taken into Cotonou in the Republic of Benin.
Once abroad, the reality diverged sharply from what had been promised: the advertised jobs and living arrangements did not exist, and the women found themselves trapped in an organised scheme that exploited their hopes for a better future.
She said,
“Before our departure, we had a video call with a woman identified as ‘Angel,’ whom I later discovered sponsored our trip. Before the call, we were coached to answer ‘yes’ to every question she asked. It was our first mistake, one we didn’t know we were making.”……See More
