The Gardrn We Hired, They Said If We Used It Their CofO Will Be Revoked, They Cut Off The AC-Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo has described the difficulties faced by members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) while trying to hold their national convention. According to him, the party was unable to use public facilities, which he believes is unusual and unfair in Nigeria’s political space.

In a video shared by Channels Television, he explained that after being denied access to public venues, the party turned to a privately owned garden they had already secured. However, the owners of the property were allegedly warned not to allow the event to take place, with threats that their Certificate of Occupancy could be withdrawn if they went ahead.

Despite this pressure, the event eventually held at the location. Okonkwo said that even then, basic amenities like air conditioning and fans were switched off, leaving attendees in uncomfortable conditions due to the heat.

He noted that the situation tested the patience and determination of party members, but instead of giving up, they remained committed to their goal. He added that the experience showed how determined ADC members and their supporters are to push forward, regardless of the challenges they face.

Okonkwo concluded that the incident reflects a broader struggle in the political environment, while also highlighting the resilience of those involved.

In his words, “Even the private garden that we hired, they said we should not use it because they have an instruction that if we do their certificate of occupancy will be revoked. Do you know we entered that place na the AC, The fan, they were cut off, we were almost roasting.”…..See More
