Dan Nwanyanwu, a former presidential candidate of the Zenith Labour Party has recounted his last conversation with Raymond Dokpesi, the founder of Daar Communications Limited, which took place just few days before his death.
In a video shared on YouTube by AIT, Nwanyanwu said Dokpesi called him on a Saturday and asked him why he was still in the village. He said he explained to Dokpesi that he planned to return on Tuesday because traveling on Monday was not safe. He said Dokpesi then asked him “is it when I die that you will come back?” and he immediately rebuked the statement Dokpesi made but sadly, Dokpesi died on Monday
Nwanyanwu said he felt that Dokpesi wanted to tell him something important before he died.
In Nwanyanwu’s words: “I am pained particularly because Dokpesi made a call to me that Saturday before his death. I was in the village and he said Gburugburu, what are you still doing in the Village. I said my senior brother, I am rounding up, I will be coming on Tuesday because Monday was not safe for anybody to travel in the east then.
“Dokpesi said ‘is it when I die that you will come back?’ I rebuked it; he died on Monday. My pain is probably he wanted to tell me certain things but that was before the accident so how could it have happened. So I am yet to balance it, he said ‘is it when I die that you will come back”, I rebuked it but maybe it was not strong enough. He died on Monday, he did not wait till Tuesday”………See More
