Amid the political crisis rocking in Rivers State, some commissioners loyal to the former governor have resigned from Governor Fubara’s cabinet.
Governor Fubara has criticized the statement from the former commissioner of Works, Alabo George-Kelly, explaining that he resigned from Fubara’s cabinet because the state was spending money without appropriation. Besides, the former Commissioner said that if not for his predecessor, Fubara would be in level 14 civil servant.
Fubara described the former commissioner as drug addict who talks carelessly because he wants to impress the FCT minister.
The Governor said he would be in a better position if he had been the Chief Accountant in 2010.
Fubara accused the ex-comiisioner of being paid to impress his paymaster, noting that he wouldn’t engage hiself into cheap statement.
According to NAN, he said, “I heard one drug addict telling people that I would have been in level 14 or 15. You know when you don’t know people, you talk carelessly and when you are already high, what do you expect?
“If in 2010 I was the Chief Accountant, most of you who know the civil service, where would I be before 2022?
“When you see people because you want to impress your paymaster, you talk carelessly. But I won’t reduce myself to that kind of talk.”
In the same view point, recall that there has been a political crisis between the immediate past governor and his successor Fubara over the leadership of the state. There is faction in the state House of Assembly as majority of the lawmakers (27) are behind the FCT minister. Governor has been in longerhead with the lawmakers following his impeachment notice. The lawmakers who were elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defected their membership to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state. And also the Governor in his remarks has told the members that they are not recognized as lawmakers in the eyes of the law……..See More
