Atiku Abubakar, former vice president of Nigeria and ADC presidential candidate has spoken out about the reasons why he warned against any harm befalling the former governors of Anambra and Kaduna States, Peter Obi and Nasiru El-Rufai respectively.
According to his statements which were shared by VANGUARD on Thursday July 9th, 2026 he pointed out that every Nigerian, regardless of political affiliation has the right to self determination and peaceful existence.
His comments came amid the heated arguments that trailed the concerns raised by the former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi who claimed that his life was in danger.
Nasiru El-Rufai, on the other hand, had been in detention over allegations of mismanagement of public funds, however, many believed that his predicament was politically motivated.
Atiku Abubakar, widely admired for his outspokenness, warned that no harm must befall the two political heavyweights. He maintained that both were bonafide citizens of Nigeria and should enjoy the dividends of democracy.
He used a popular African proverb that warned against jubilating against injustice to drive down his points.
“Our elders say: ‘When the drums of injustice beat for your neighbour, do not dance, for tomorrow they may beat for you.’ Every Nigerian, regardless of political affiliation, has a stake in defending the democratic space.” He said…..See More
