There have been several reactions from the general public and particularly social media users after the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi made a striking comment after a viral video of Nasiru El-Rufai’s wife caught his attention while in the United States of America.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle on Wednesday July 8th, 2026 he pointed out that the former Kaduna State governor should be getting given a fair hearing.
Hajiya Asiya El-Rufai, the wife to the former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, it can be recalled, stirred mixed feelings after she went online to vent her anger at the predicament of her husband.
While her emotional remarks generated fresh rounds of heated arguments regarding the predicament of the former governor, Mr Peter Obi, who received the information in the United States, disclosed that he was deeply moved by her emotions.
Peter Obi, in his remarks, pointed out that her actions calls for a deep reflection on the nation’s future, arguing that regardless of the allegations against Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, justice must be transparent and fair.
He further raised serious questions regarding the bail conditions granted to the former Kaduna state governor, stating that the move was a calculated effort to silence him.
