Former lawmaker Hon. Cletus Obun has called on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action against any official found culpable in the controversy surrounding Mr. Adeyemi, the man at the centre of the alleged fake government agency scandal that has rocked the Presidency.
Obun made the remarks during an interview on Trust TV, on Tuesday, 7 July, 2026, while reacting to the controversy involving Adeyemi, who allegedly created a fake government agency, forged letters of appointment, and obtained approvals that were reportedly processed by senior government officials.
The scandal has also drawn in the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, who publicly denied ever meeting Adeyemi following claims linking him to the embattled figure.
Drawing a comparison with the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Obun said President Tinubu should not hesitate to sanction close associates if their actions have brought embarrassment to his government.
According to him, “Look at what Buhari did, he took out Babachir Lawal, his best friend. And he is the best friend to this president and this president must show courage and take out all those who has brought him embarrassment.”
Obun argued that the credibility of any administration depends on the willingness of its leader to hold public officials accountable, irrespective of personal relationships or political loyalty.
