Shehu Sani, a renowned human rights activist and former Kaduna central senatorial district lawmaker has taken to his official X handle to react after President John Mahama of Ghana postponed the state visit of South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa over xenophobic attacks.
According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle on Tuesday July 7th, 2027 he pointed out that the move from the Ghanaian president was commendable.
President Cyril Ramaphosa, it can be recalled, was expected to visit the West African country to hold discussions over the incidents that oversaw the repatriation of several Ghanaians from South Africa.
However, due to undisclosed circumstances, the state visit was deferred to a different date, a move which triggered massive reactions across various social media platforms.
Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, in his remarks, commended the Ghanaian president for showing true leadership by deferring the visit, an act which he believed mirrored the president’s care for his people.
Several Ghanaians, and indeed citizens of different African countries including Nigeria were recently sent packing from South Africa as the fight against foreign nationals intensifies.
