Ibrahim Iliyasu, an FCT senatorial aspirant under the NDC, declared his total readiness to contest against major political rivals in the upcoming general elections, dismissing external competition as non-threatening to his legislative ambitions within the capital territory.
According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Trust TV on Monday, July 6, 2026, while boasting about his electoral advantages, he stated, “I am willing to face any opposition and I don’t consider them a threat, whether it is the APC or the ADC, because I have what it takes to defeat them since I am from Abuja South.”
The confident politician explained that coming from the southern region gives him a distinct advantage over his key opponents, pointing out that other major parties have selected candidates who originate strictly from the northern axis.
Iliyasu stressed that Abuja South has suffered significant neglect over the last twenty-seven years, noting that only one senator has emerged from the zone within nearly three decades of democratic governance in the territory.
He argued that his roots in the rural area councils position him perfectly to bridge the deep developmental gaps existing between the neglected hinterlands and the rapidly growing urban municipal centers of the federal capital.
