Obi And RMK: Legal, Political Traps Aim To Trap All Opposition Figures In One Basket -Mohammed On ADC

Habibu Mohammed, a representative of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, has raised concerns over ongoing political discussions among opposition groups in Nigeria as attention shifts toward the 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Mohammed addressed the increasing realignment within opposition circles, noting that key political blocs are exploring possible alliances and collaborations. He revealed that within the Kwankwasiyya Movement led by former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, discussions are ongoing about a potential partnership with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

At the same time, he noted that the Obidient Movement, associated with former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, is also considering broader coalition arrangements as part of preparations for the next election cycle.

According to him, these developments reflect a wider restructuring within the opposition landscape, where different groups are evaluating mergers and strategic partnerships to improve their chances at the polls.

“There are legal and political traps designed to ensure that all opposition members are placed in one category,” he said, implying that certain coalition structures might reduce ideological diversity within the opposition.

He cautioned that if such processes are not carefully managed, they could force politically distinct groups with different visions into a single framework that may not reflect their individual goals or interests.

Despite these concerns, Mohammed acknowledged that coalition-building is a normal and necessary aspect of democratic politics, especially in competitive elections. However, he stressed that it must be conducted transparently and with caution to strengthen, rather than weaken, opposition forces.

He further clarified that the Kwankwasiyya Movement has not taken any final decision on alliances. According to him, consultations are still ongoing, and all possible options are being considered.

“We are consulting, we are listening, and we are evaluating all options carefully. Nothing has been finalized yet,” he stated.

Mohammed also emphasized that any meaningful political alliance must be based on mutual respect, clear communication, and well-defined agreements, warning against rushed or externally influenced political deals……See More
