Mr. Awofe Afolayan Ariyo, popularly known as Awofe, has said he became a boss in the Yoruba movie industry before Adebayo Salami, also known as Oga Bello.
Speaking in an interview on OYINMOMO TV, Awofe explained that he started his own theatre group in the 1980s and was already leading his team and producing movies at that time. He said Oga Bello was still working under another group called Awada Kerikeri then.
Awofe said this is why he does not accept being called junior to Oga Bello, as he had already made a name for himself before Oga Bello became well known.
He added that Oga Bello was also aware of how he started and the role he played in the early days.

“In the movie industry, I had already been a boss before Oga Bello. I’m his boss. When I started my theatre group, imagine the year I told you—you cannot call him a boss because he was under Awada Kerikeri, and I was already a boss as far back as the 1980s.
