I Mistakenly Impregnated A Girl In The Street And People Started Mocking Me, So I Ran Away -Folarin

Veteran Yoruba Nollywood actor Ladi Folarin, has opened up about a painful teenage mistake that saw him flee Nigeria for London several decades ago.

Speaking in an interview on FeelRightNews TV, Folarin recalled how he accidentally got a young girl in his neighborhood pregnant.

He stressed that the act was not planned and both of them were very young at the time.

When news of the pregnancy spread, the situation quickly turned ugly. Even his close friends from the street began to mock him openly.

One friend specifically started calling him Baba Ibeji, which means father of twins. The constant teasing and shame became too much for him to bear.

Folarin admitted that if his friends had not laughed at him and his girlfriend back then, he might have stayed to think seriously about becoming a father.

But the mockery broke his resolve.

In the end, he ran away from the situation completely. The child was born and named Bidemi, a name that means he was born when I was not at home.

Folarin was not present for the birth because he had already traveled abroad.

He escaped to London, leaving the young mother and his newborn child behind.

His words: “I mistakenly impregnated a girl in our street. It wasn’t intentional. Both of us were young at the time. When it happened, even my friend from the neighborhood started calling me Baba Ibeji, meaning father of twins. If my friends hadn’t mocked me and my girlfriend back then, I would have given fatherhood a real thought. In the end, the child was named Bidemi, meaning he was born when I wasn’t at home. I wasn’t around because I ran away. I traveled to London.”……See More
