Israel’s Netanyahu Discloses First Cancer Diagnosis, Declears Full Recovery And Excellent Health

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed on Friday that he was recently diagnosed with and successfully treated for early-stage prostate cancer.

The announcement, included in his annual medical report, marks the first time the 76-year-old leader the longest-serving in Israel’s history has disclosed a cancer diagnosis.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office and accompanying letters from his physicians, the malignancy was discovered during a routine check

Doctors identified a small malignant spot, described as less than one centimeter in size, with no signs of spread (metastasis). Netanyahu was reportedly given the choice between “active surveillance” or immediate treatment. He opted for the latter, undergoing a course of targeted radiation therapy at Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem.

I had a minor medical issue with my prostate that was fully treated,” Netanyahu stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter). “I underwent a targeted treatment that removed the problem and left no trace of it. The spot has completely disappeared. Thank God, I am healthy; I am in excellent physical shape.

The Prime Minister admitted that he intentionally delayed the release of his annual health report by two months. He explained that the decision was a matter of national security, intended to prevent adversaries from exploiting the news.

I requested the publication be delayed so it would not be released at the height of the war, to prevent the Iranian terror regime from spreading further false propaganda against Israel,” Netanyahu said.

The disclosure comes at a time of high regional tension, following U.S.-Israeli strikes against Iran that reportedly began in late February. Netanyahu emphasized that his approach to his health mirrored his approach to leadership: “When I am given timely information about a potential danger, I want to address it right away. This is true on a national level and also on a personal level.

The medical report, released on Friday, April 24, 2026, concludes that the Prime Minister is in excellent physical condition and has fully resumed his duties without limitations. Dr. Aron Popovtzer, director of oncology at Hadassah, confirmed in a video statement that the early detection allowed for a successful intervention with “no trace” of the cancer remaining.

While Netanyahu has faced various health scares in the past—including the implantation of a pacemaker in 2023—this is the first time his office has confirmed a malignant diagnosis. Political analysts suggest the transparency, though delayed, is aimed at projecting strength and stability as he continues to lead Israel through its ongoing multi-front conflicts……See More
