Tinubu: If A Governor Decides To Join APC, When You Come, We Negotiate, If It’s Good You Stay -Kalu

Distinguished Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not pressure politicians to leave their parties or to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The senator made the remarks in an interview which was shared THE SUN on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, rejecting claims that the ruling party is forcing governors or other politicians to defect.

Kalu told reporters that joining a political party is a personal decision. He said if a governor or any politician chooses to move to the APC, that choice is theirs alone and the party does not use coercion to recruit members. According to him, new members are welcomed only after discussions and agreement.

He explained that when someone wants to join the APC, the party negotiates with them. If the terms are acceptable, the person stays; if not, they are free to go back to their previous party or pursue other options. Kalu emphasized that the process is voluntary and based on mutual agreement.

Kalu said, “President Tinubu has never begged anybody to leave his party or to join our party… If a governor decides to join APC, that is his business. When you come, we negotiate; if it is good, you stay; if not, you go your way. Nobody is forcing anybody.”…..See More
