Liberman Slams Emerging Iran Deal, Accuses Netanyahu Of Failing To Win War ‘On Any Front’

According to Times of Israel, on Saturday, May 23, 2026, according to Yisrael Beytenu party leader Avigdor Liberman, any deal that would allow Iran’s ruling mullahs to remain in power would be a “catastrophe” for Israel. Liberman has harshly criticised the US-brokered Iran deal.

He claimed that any long-term assurances in a deal would be untrustworthy since the Iranian leadership is radical and openly devoted to destroying Israel.

The unfreezing of approximately $110 billion in Iranian assets and increased oil and gas exports are two of the rumoured aspects of the deal that Liberman expressed concern would give Tehran more money to wage aggression in the area.

During the negotiations, he claimed that US President Donald Trump had humiliated Israel “with Netanyahu’s blessing.”

He went on to say that Israel is now a “banana republic” under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that Israel has not won any major triumphs in its regional conflicts.

Also, Liberman cautioned that Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Caesarea, among other major cities in Israel, could be in risk if we don’t neutralise the threats coming from Lebanon, especially the explosive drones aimed at Israeli forces.

He came to the conclusion that if Israel’s military did nothing, its enemies would get stronger and civilian populations across the nation would be put at greater risk.

Despite his recognition of Trump’s assistance in a prior hostage release arrangement, he maintained that Israel’s strategic position is being undermined by the present diplomatic strategy.

In order to stop more assaults and restore regional deterrence, Liberman emphasised that Israel needs a more robust and firm security posture.

He said that Iran’s government and financial resources would be strengthened through any agreement that allowed them to keep them, and that this would lead to increased hostility towards Israel and less international pressure.

He stressed the need of deterrence restoration as the fundamental goal of Israeli policy and said that the leadership of Israel should reject political pressure from outside and put long-term security ahead of short-term diplomatic advantages in any conversations about Iran and regional stability…..See More
