We Won’t Tolerate Any Individual Who Thinks He’s Lord Of Rivers, Rivers Isn’t Owned By One Man -Sukubo

The Chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Eastern Zone, Datolu Sukubo, has called on all political parties in Rivers State to present Ijaw candidates for the next governorship election.

In a video shared by Channels TV, speaking during a peaceful march, Sukubo said Ijaw people would resist any attempt to stop another riverine leader from completing a full tenure in office. His comments followed reports that Siminalayi Fubara had stepped down from the governorship race as part of a political agreement linked to the peace deal involving Nyesom Wike.

Sukubo argued that after 24 years of leadership by upland politicians, it was unfair for a riverine governor to face pressure before completing even one full term. He warned against what he described as attempts to return power to another Ikwerre politician while an Ijaw governor is still in office.

He also said Ijaw youths were prepared to protect their political interests across polling units in Ijaw communities and beyond during future elections.

According to him, Rivers State belongs to all ethnic groups and not to one person or a single ethnic group. He added that while the Ijaw people appreciate support from other communities, they would not accept any form of political dominance or control by any individual in the state.
