According to a report by Fox News, on Friday April 17, 2026, Sean Hannity, Fox News host, issued a sharp rebuke to the Vatican on Friday night, targeting Pope Leo XIV for his condemnation of the U.S. war in Iran and his escalating public feud with President Donald Trump.
During his monologue, Hannity leaned into his own religious upbringing to provide context for his criticism, while ultimately distancing himself from the Roman Catholic Church.
“I do want to shift gears with a message to the Vatican tonight specifically Pope Leo who has openly condemned America’s war in Iran while seemingly enjoying a public fight with President Trump,” Hannity began.
Reflecting on his roots, he shared, “Let me give some context like millions of Americans I was raised Catholic I went to Catholic school for 12 years I attended a seminary in high school and studied theology, Latin, went to mass daily I got a lot out of it.”
Hannity spoke warmly of his family’s faith, noting, “My parents were devout Catholics and while I wasn’t particularly engaged at the time and the teachings of the Catholic Church as a young person it entered my consciousness and made me a better person. It has been a positive force in my life in so many ways.”……See More
