According to a report by The Times Of Israel on April 15, 2026, Iran secretly deployed a Chinese-built spy satellite that provided the Islamic Republic with an enhanced ability to track and target US military installations across the Middle East during the recent conflict, the Financial Times reports.
The satellite, identified as TEE-01B, was constructed and launched by the Chinese firm Earth Eye Co. It was reportedly obtained by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Aerospace Force in late 2024 following its launch from China, according to the report, which cites leaked Iranian military documents.
Details from the documents indicate that Iranian military commanders assigned the satellite to closely observe key US military facilities in the region. The newspaper references time-stamped coordinate data, satellite imagery, and orbital tracking analysis that outline how the system was used.
According to the Financial Times, the satellite captured images in March, both before and after a series of drone and missile strikes targeting those locations. These images, alongside the accompanying data, suggest that the satellite played a role in improving Iran’s operational awareness and targeting precision during the conflict.
The report adds that the integration of such satellite capabilities marks a notable development in Iran’s military surveillance infrastructure, enabling more accurate monitoring of strategic sites. The leaked materials further point to a structured approach in utilizing space-based intelligence to support military operations.
The findings underscore growing concerns over the use of advanced satellite technology in regional conflicts, particularly when linked to foreign partnerships, as highlighted in the cooperation between Iran and the Chinese company involved in the satellite’s development and deployment……See More
