I Met A Man On Facebook, He Visited Me, Stole My Phone And Other Belongings And Disappeared -Deborah Moses

A Nigerian woman, Deborah Moses, has shared her experience after an encounter with a man she met on Facebook allegedly led to the loss of her personal belongings.

Speaking on the Brekete Family aired on Human Rights Radio 101.1 Abuja, Rights Radio 101.1 Abuja, she said, “I met a man on Facebook, he visited me, stole my phone and some other belongings and disappeared,” describing how the incident unfolded.

According to her, their interaction began online and later developed into physical meetings. During one of the visits, the man arrived late at night and requested a place to stay, explaining that he was on a journey and needed temporary accommodation. Trusting him, she agreed to host him.

She explained that the following morning, she briefly stepped out, leaving him in the house. Upon her return, she discovered that he had left with several of her belongings. Items reportedly taken included her mobile phone, household equipment, clothing, and a savings box containing money she had accumulated over time.

She later traced him through a wedding invitation shared online, which led her to a church in Kaduna where he was preparing for his wedding. The matter was reported, and he reportedly admitted to taking the items but stated that they had already been sold.

An agreement was said to have been reached for repayment, but she noted that the suspect has not fulfilled the promise.
