According to a report by Fox News on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the U.S. Navy has intercepted a massive tanker, the M/T Tifani, carrying about 1.9 million barrels of Iranian crude oil. The operation happened in the international waters of the Bay of Bengal, between India and Southeast Asia.
The Pentagon confirmed that their forces boarded the ship “without incident,” meaning no fight or wahala occurred during the takeover. The vessel, which was not flying any country’s flag, reportedly loaded the oil from Kharg Island earlier this month and was heading towards Singapore before it was caught.
This move has caused serious tension as a two-week ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran is about to end. Many are worried about what happens next, as Iran has already called the continuous blockade an “act of war” and is refusing to talk peace while their ships are being seized.
For many watching the global oil market, there is a mix of shock and fear that this could lead to higher fuel prices or more fighting. As it stands, the U.S. says they will continue to track and stop any sanctioned vessel, no matter where it is hiding…..See More
